The TRUTH about Gatorade

Some weeks are definitely better than other weeks. unfortunately this isn't one of them. This is one of those weeks where just one thing after another comes to make it delightfully drullsome! Maybe it is Nate's fault... Yeah I'll blame it on him. Everything can be his fault.. Someone has to be to blame... who better that Nate. OK, OK...it isn't any ones fault... but have you noticed that when a kid makes a mistake it is NEVER their fault. Their marvelously bad aim into the toilet when the boys have to go... well that is the toilets fault because they didn't make them better. When they slap their sister across the face... that is of course their sisters fault for annoying them. When their room isn't clean that is all their junks fault (though they love their junk, they just don't know where to put it) or anyone who entered into their room that wasn't them, even though it is their dirty underwear all over the floor. We have a blame problem at our house. Anyone else have this problem or is it only here? I'm looking for a mighty big solution for it... so far nothing seems to help.
Well my week started with Seth and his pukies. Then James and his need for a root canal (he is now in the right mind frame that he thinks he'll be tough enough to sit through one...Yay, if that is true!). Then Emmy's hands swelled up and began to itch. The doc said that she has a condition called Dyshidrosis. It is a type of eczema that looks just delightful. It is not enough that she has had Keratosis Pilaris since she was a wee infant, she now has another skin condition to torture her throughout her life (I am sure that is going to be all my fault when she becomes a teenager and it really starts to bother her). Well last but NOT least Ashlee got the stomach sickies last night. I am thinking she felt all left out and probably prayed for them! See we have this understanding in our house that Gatorade is for sickies. If you are sick then you can have a Gatorade out of Nate's big stash down stairs, but that is the only time unless we are boat camping. So Seth went through 3 Gatorade's on Sunday and James had 2 on Monday. Emmy never got a Gatorade, but she did get candy from the store while we were waiting for her prescriptions to be ready. Ashlee was totally throwing a fit about how unfair the world was and how she NEVER gets ANYTHING when she is sick and whaaa whaaa whaaa...blah blah blah... I swear she whined herself sick! Heck she whined me "sick" of hearing her whine!!!! So she goes into the bathroom still whining that her stomach really does hurt now and she throws up in the toilet (yay, she is learning where she needs to puke!!! I AM teaching them something useful). Then she comes back out and says, "can I have my Gatorade now?"
I figured she had totally earned it, so I let her have one.... now here is where the TRUTH about Gatorade comes in... When your sick that stuff tastes nasty!! Well IMO it never really tastes good. I don't really like sweet water. I want my water to taste like nothing... and IMO it pretty much tastes like water that has some flavored sugar in it. Fill up a two litter pitcher... add an 1/8 a pack of Koolade flavoring (so you can ruin your carpets!!) and a pinch of sugar...ta da... Gatorade . Anyway, I think she totally decided she would rather be healthy without Gatorade than sick with it (same comment Seth had made when he was trying his third Gatorade the other day...he didn't drink more than a sip out of any of them, but he was sure they were just rotten or something). I guess I'll know when she starts feeling better because she'll decide she wants to drink her Gatorade again. Now she is begging for Candy, even though she is still throwing up once and hour. She figures she only has a limited time to milk it and she better take advantage of it while she can.
On a brighter note, "Breaking Dawn" will be released at midnight tonight. I am heading over to Wally World for a midnight release party. I am not totally desperate for the book, like some fans out there, but I might as well read it before everyone tells me the ending. That mean for the next few days I can sit around while my house is being trashed and find out whether Bella becomes a vampire or not (YAY me). Bet you don't have anything more interesting in your schedule for the weekend!
