HAIR

Well, today was Sunday. Therefore, we packed the munchkins up in the car and took them all to church. Today was Jame's special day! He was scheduled to get the Aaronic priesthood and be ordained a Deacon after church. When we got to church we got a few comments from people wondering who the extra child was. Seems that James is almost unrecognisable with his new haircut. It took a good five minutes to convince the 3 year old neighbor boy that it was really him.
Well, when they called up the boys who were advancing out of primary to give them their certificate of advancement and get the sustaining vote for getting the priesthood they didn't call James up. I, being the worrier I am, started to freak out a little. My mom was planning on meeting us right after church for his ordination. I tried to get Nate to go up there and tell the bishop they forgot him. He wouldn't go up, but he did stop a deacon during sacrament to tell him to give the bishop the message. It was the deacon that was assigned to serve the sacrament to the bishop.
Well, when the deacon serves him the water, we can see him give the message to the bishop who looks down at us really confused. Before the sacrament even ended the bishop got up and walked down to us. It was kind of interesting... I have never seen a bishop leave the pulpit during sacrament before. He asked us if James was suppose to receive the priesthood today and we told him that he was. He looked down the row at the kids and then he asked, looking really confused, if he had interviewed him yet. I was starting to think that maybe the bishop has some kind of alzheimers. He had interviewed him only last week which wasn't THAT long ago. We told him "yes, last week." The bishop went with it, but you could see the doubt in his face as he looked down the row at all the kids. Nate whispers to him "he got his haircut." The bishop immediately recognized him and the mistake they had made. He later told us that all three councilors had scanned the audience and none of them had seen him with us, so they assumed that he had stayed home sick. Then when he had gotten the message he thought maybe he had confused us with having the wrong boy, but that he didn't remember interviewing anyone who was sitting with us and he "thought" we were "Jame's" parents and that maybe we wanted him to call him up even though he wasn't there or maybe we weren't linked to the boy he though of as James. Poor guy... he is a new bishop... we just like to make his calling a little more thrilling...give him a little rush every once in a while :-)
Anyway it all worked out great. They called him up after sacrament apologizing to him for not recognizing him. Then after church he was ordained a deacon. He is really excited about being in mutual and getting to go to the temple to do baptisms.
I really will get to the camera one of these days and post the before and after pics. He does look very different... I just don't have time to do it right now. I am suppose to be reading a Math chapter and a Biology chapter... plus two English chapters... Of course blogging sounded like so much more fun that I couldn't resist.
