Masty returns...

This weekend we had a little family reunion with my siblings...at least the ones who are around.... My sister Lyndsey is serving our country in Iraq right now. She is a member of the Utah National Guard . Then Andrea lives somewhere on the East coast. It keeps changing so I am not sure exactly where, that's how great I am as a sister!

The rest of us spent the weekend up at Blue Water Bear Lake. It took us For-EVER to get there. We sat in traffic for a while and then once we got out of the stop and go traffic, a tire on the boat trailer blew up. Ughhh. I don't know what it is with tires right now, but they are costing us an awful lot of money!

Anyway I found myself a little organism (bug) to talk to. It kept me company for a while as I tried to study the thing to help me along with my Biology, but when I tried to set it free... I accidentally killed it, I guess flicking a bug off your finger is not the best way to let it go free. That kept the kids laughing for a good 25 minutes. "Mom killed her organism..ha..ha..ha". Whatever keeps them entertained! Hey it was educational.

We got up to Bear Lake after it was dark and then proceeded to have to put up two tents. My mom brought her tent, but seemed to have left behind the poles. NOT a good idea! I am not sure what good a tent without poles is. Luckily we didn't have to find out because someone had brought a spare tent. Nate was being greedy with his flash light. I was trying to give my mom SOME light to help her put up her tent. I wasn't sure if it was working or just annoying her, but then Nate tried to take away my flashlight. Grrrr. He told me to go and get my moms lantern, which I did. It is a little wind up LED lantern for emergencies. I give off more light than that lantern! Seriously! I was tired and grumpy... lets just say Nate gave me back the flashlight to keep my mood stabilized. I then proceeded to loose it somewhere.... I don't know where flashlight "lost and found" is, but if you do and you see a little led silver flashlight... my husband wants it back.

Hanging out with family always brings a little excitement into our lives. I spent a couple of hours with Charlie down on the beach. He was quite entertaining as he took "baths" in the muddy sand. He also ran around buck naked for a while. He kept telling me to take my clothes off too and come play with him in the water. I told him that I thought that might make all the people around us a little uncomfortable... not to mention the "fine" I would get for indecent exposure. Of course he is only two, so I tried to explain it to him in 2 year old language.. he just kept asking "why?"

Ashlee wasn't sleeping well at night which made her a little grumpier than usual. I think she shocked all the relatives with how pure masty she can be. She usually tries to be normal around them, or if she is in a bad mood she just pouts. Not up at the lake. she was screaming at Emmy and trying to rip the clothes off her back (Emmy was wearing Ashlee's swimsuit which even though Ashlee had 2 she wasn't sharing). Apparently Emmy lies and then she doesn't "rEpeNt" afterwards which Ashlee thinks is quite abominable. She showed Grampy how "un"angelic she can be. I think he was a little taken back. Especially when he got the privilege of riding home in our car with those two sitting by each other. I was just waiting for Grampy to tell us to pull over so he could walk home (that is always what he did when WE were kids and fighting).

I am not really sure what I did all weekend. I took some Dramamine on the car ride up there so I could read my biology book without being sick. I didn't get sick, but by the time I got to page three I could barely keep my eyes open. The Dramamine didn't leave my system for a good 24 hours. I think I mostly just walked around in a daze the whole next day. I really hoped to get more homework done, but there was always wind outside and people inside... it really put a damper on my hopes.

Nate and I spent a good ten minutes laughing hysterically at my dad who had to sleep on the pull out sofa in the trailer. At first I think he thought we were giving him the good bed because he tried to talk us into giving up our tiny dinette bed for the sofa sleeper. He is all about self sacrificing (which is why we love him so much). He soon realized that you couldn't pay Nate to sleep on the sofa sleeper and discovered that we were "letting" them have the worst bed in the trailer. When he realized he was already pegged as having to be the sacrificer he then started whining about how there were bars in his back and his bed was "abrasive". They discovered that was from all the sand that the kids had left behind from the beach earlier that day. They proceeded to get out of bed and shake it all out. Somehow during this mess my dad seemed to have thrown his pillow into the dogs water bowl. When he lays back down he complains that his pillow is now wet from something. Then he wanted to know what the dogs water bowl was doing on the floor so close to his bed (which it wasn't THAT close). My mom traded him pillows and took the wet one for herself (what a trooper). Then the bed just didn't "feel" right for a minute. By the time he was done even my mom was laughing. He woke up the next morning saying he had had one of the best nights ever. It is a little hard to believe he was telling the truth from all the complaining he did before falling asleep.

Nate spent the weekend driving people around on the boat. I spent the weekend doing nothing...
Give me a few days and I'll tell you I had fun, but right now I am on my fifth load of laundry with two loads still left to do and I have had to unpack everything and put it away and I still have a chapter of Biology to read and a quiz to study for. It wasn't a bad weekend but why does having fun have to be so much work?
