My blog is starting to look like my journal. Posts are becoming far and few between. Life has a way of just swallowing up time. I spend my days doing homework and cleaning. I like cleaning better!
Seems the sickies caught up with us. We were doing pretty well for most of the winter and then about a week and a half ago Seth threw up. Since then Ashlee caught a two sided monster, Emily and James have picked up a hackaroo with a fever and even I have been lucky enough to get my own personal upchuck. There were kids home sick all week. It has been Oh So Fun. Funny thing, but yesterday was the only day that everyone seemed to be feeling good. Think it had anything to do with the word "weekend"?
Yesterday was the day of my 30th birthday party (which I disguised as an Ugly Sweater/
Shirt party). Actually I just counted it as my party, because I don't want to have to have another one and it was so close to my birthday I figured it would work. I of course am a procrastinator so I went out to get my ugly sweater on Friday with Sarah, Rebecca, and my girls (girls night out, since the boys had all gone off to scout camp). Turns out that Ashlee was still not feeling well enough to make the trip and after looking at sweaters for a few minutes we ended up outside looking at the insides of a garbage can. Ashlee contemplated leaving it a present, but in the end she just asked to go back home. Sarah bought her the awesomest DI throw up bowl and we cut our ugly sweater shopping short and went back home. Sarah and Rebecca came along and we attempted to have our girls’ night (junk food, movie) at home, which Emily said we failed miserably at. If you don't spend 2 grand on a girls night it just can live up to Emmy's expectations.
Saturday was full of getting the house ready to have people over. Of course that meant that everyone except me had made plans to leave the house and be as far from it as possible. They wouldn't want to be stuck helping after all. I gave Nate a couple of things I wanted him to do and then I didn't see him again until an hour before the party was to start. I would be lying if I told you I wasn't totally ticked at everyone I live with by the time the party started.
People came. There are a lot of Ugly sweaters out there. Not one of them reminded me of something my Grandma would have worn on a normal basis. She was QUEEN of ugly sweaters! We ate, though I realized later Nate hadn't cooked the second bag of hamburgers so I am just hoping everyone got one. Sorry if you didn't. I was a flake and Nate was trying his best to not do a darn thing I asked him too! There was possible miscommunication in there. Though I had asked him to bring the x-box downstairs around 4 o'clock so there was no excuse for that!
For the first half of the party I was too busy trying to get things set up with voting on ugly stuff... Here are a couple of pics and survivor voting clips... I told some people I wouldn't blog them. I tend to be a liar, especially as of late. I got some repenting to do.

Dave won the You're Nuts to have Left the House in that Sweater
Anthony won the You look Delicious in That Sweater
Daddy D. won the Stiff Sweater/Shirt
Mommy D. won the Patchiest Sweater (side note, this was my sweatshirt from girls camp one year, I wore it all the time when I lived at home... 14 years ago)
Sarah won the That Sweater Gives me A Headache
Jill won the Baggies Sweater
Keri won the Bubbliest Sweater along with the Dog Gone Ugliest Sweater
Ninnette won the Hottest Sweater
Mommy Vm. won the Boring"est" Sweater
Nate won the Tightest Sweater (he ain't going to let his wife pick his ugliest sweater again!)
Then there were bunches of us that got nothing... but the satisfaction that we wore a dang ugly sweater to an ugly sweater party. If blogger works later I'll post all our unwinning pictures later... but as for now it is being stupid.
The second half (after people started to leave) I actually got to visit a little. I sang some rock band tunes with some sisters. Then it was time for everyone to go home. Sarah and Rebecca helped clean up after the party. They are awesome to me! I couldn't have asked for better sister-in-laws!
Then I woke up this morning sick.
... When I have some time, which may be never, I have a bunch of draft posts that I need to finish up. This month we have added a few pets, sold a few pets, and a few pets have passed on to the afterlife. Their stories are scattered throughout the drafts in my post box and I need to finish them up and get them posted.... I also have the other half of Seth's life sitting there unfinished. So much to do...
