What's for Dinner???

I can tell you what isn't for dinner.... "Dinner".

I am now bored enough at home to actually blog about some of the daily happenings around the house and I am going to start with the story about my little turkey "Dinner". I got Dinner the end of February with my chicks. He was a cute little turkey. I quickly fell in love with him. He had a good personality and he enjoyed following me around the house squeaking. I had of course decided that I wasn't going to be eating Dinner... unless of course he turned into another Mr. Orphington before November came around.
The chicks were big enough to move out to the hen house with the older hens. Dinner went out there too. Talk about ugly duckling... The chicks hadn't really excepted him as their own even though they had lived with each other since they were a week old, but the hens immediately singled him out. He was the outcast. The loner. I felt so bad for him. I would sneak him in the house on days when I was home and let him follow me around and hang out during the day while Nate and the kids were away at work and school.
Then came the girls weekend away that I take with my board friends once every couple of years. I was gone from Thursday to Saturday. I didn't go out to visit the chicks and Dinner until Sunday. All 13 chicks were still in the hen house, but the door to the hen house wasn't latched shut... and Dinner was nowhere to be found.
Seem that while I was away the kids had been taking care of the chickens and had accidentally (more like ignorantly) not latched the coupe shut. It must of blown open and little Dinner ran off. I am sure he turned out to be a nice meal for one of the cats. I looked all over for him, but to no avail. My little turkey was gone.
Just one more example of how everything I like gets broken or killed (or disappears like my camera and Dinner).... :-) Now I am sounding like my father. LOL.
